As Emperor Akihito will abdicate on 30 April 2019 and the new Emperor Naruhito will ascend the throne on 1 May 2019, 30 April to 2 May are also designated as national holidays in 2019, and many official ceremonies for these historic events are planned. This special arrangement made by the government results in a 10-day national holiday beginning on Saturday, 27 April and ending on Monday, 6 May 2019. Please note that most of the employees in the head office and local branch offices will not work during this period. As the offices of exchange (OEs) and customs offices in Japan will operate during this period, Japan Post does not expect any negative impact on inbound and outbound operations for EMS items and parcels. Inbound EMS items and parcels are delivered 7 days a week, including public holidays in Japan. LC/AO items, including tracked and untracked packets, are not delivered on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Exceptionally during the holiday period in question, LC/AO items will be delivered only on Saturday, 27 April and on Thursday, 2 May 2019. Japan Post thanks all Union member.
