Pos Indonesia Successfully Increases Efficiency by 42% Thanks to the Use of Robotics and AI
JAKARTA – Director of Business Development of PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) Prasabri Pesti said that the implementation of innovation is an important factor for logistics companies in winning global competition and creating efficient and profitable logistics companies. One important factor of innovation is the implementation of robotic and AI systems in the process of sorting and labeling (sorting and auto labeling) of goods at Pos Indonesia.
Prasabri explained that Pos Indonesia has implemented robotic sorting since 2023 for the process of sorting packages based on destination groups, followed by the implementation of auto labeling robots. In addition to having an impact on reducing costs, this implementation also has an impact on improving the punctuality of delivery.
"The implementation of Robotics and AI in the robotic sorting and auto labeling process at Pos Indonesia has succeeded in increasing efficiency by up to 42%," explained Prasabri Pesti when he was a speaker at the Logistic International Workshop Seminar: Winning the Global Supply Chain Through Smart Logistic Innovation organized by Citiasia, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition, Tangerang, Thursday (3/7).
Prasabri further explained that currently the portion of revenue from Pos Indonesia's logistics portfolio is increasing, from only 12% in 2022 to 41% at the end of 2024. With the increasing logistics portfolio, the accuracy and speed of the sorting, labeling and shipping of goods are very important so that customers can be served well and continue to grow.
"We will continue to automate all lines that are adjusted to the human resource roadmap, because there must be a preparation stage for transferring employee duties that originally did sorting and labeling to new areas of duty," said Prasabri.
According to Prasabri, another key factor in creating efficiency is the use of electric vehicles for both four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles. Currently, Pos Indonesia has more than 1,200 four-wheeled vehicles and more than 13,000 motorcycles. The implementation of EV Car and EV Ride based on evaluation can reduce costs by almost 40%. However, the aspect that must be considered carefully is finding an EV vehicle that has good durability for high daily use.
Pos Indonesia, Prasabri continued, plans to convert its entire fleet to 100% electric vehicles (EV) gradually starting in 2030. By using EVs, the resulting efficiency can reduce fuel costs by up to 70% and vehicle maintenance costs by up to 30%.
